This carbon steel is not stainless steel, but there is no need to fear rust if you remember to take care of the knife. For this reason, it is important to always wash and dry the knife immediately after use. A leather cover is not suitable for use on this razor, as the tannin often contained in leather can damage the carbon steel. After the first use, a greyish-blue shade, which is patina, may appear on the blade. This patina is not dangerous but actually protects the blade. It also won't go away and doesn't need to be removed.
