Packaging
Reuzel's printed, matte metal jar with screw cap. Feels good in the hand. The metal is a bit thinner, so the jar may show small traces of use if you throw it in the cupboard.
Composition
Reuzel's red pomade is jelly-like, quite thick and sticky. Blue is jelly-like, thicker and stickier. Even a little sticky when applying to the hands, but it does spread.
Scent
The same sweet cream candy scent as in the red is also noticeable in this blue. This has just been mixed with some masculine-smelling cologne. A surprisingly effective combination and the scent is perhaps even better than the red one. As said, this is what Reuzel can do.
Distribution
The relatively sticky blue Reuzel does not spread completely easily on the hair, but you have to be careful that you get the product evenly everywhere. Somehow, it doesn't seem quite as handy in styling as red, but yes, you can shape your hair with this (this can also be a preference question). By the way, this doesn't dry out during the styling phase, so there's no rush. (we suggest watching the video on this, so you get the gist of it)
Result
With this you get both, shine and grip, and little more than in the red. Blue Piggy isn't the most shiny pomade, but you can get a little out of it. Grip is somewhat of a heavy minus. Easily good enough for most hair styles.
At the end of the day
The malleability is preserved surprisingly well as a water-based pomade, and if necessary, the product comes to life well with water. The hold lasts well throughout the day, but the shine weakens a bit towards the evening.
Washing
In the style of a regular water-based, leaves the hair with just water. So washing will not cause any kind of problem.
Manufacturing
The company behind Reuzel is Dutch and the well-known Schorem barber is in Rotterdam, but all their products are made in the USA.
Shave Club Verdict
Definitely among the best regular water-based ones. In many ways, the same style as Reuzel's red, but slightly better in almost everything. A valid alternative for e.g. Uppercut Delux and Layrite Original.
