Why bar soap?

Do you dry a bar of soap?

Many people think of bar soap as a dirty and slimy soap teeming with bacteria, which just seems to leave your hands completely dry. However, is this really the case?

Is not! Bar soaps offer a wide selection of real soap made from natural and high-quality ingredients that does not dry out the skin. Real soap is made by heating a mixture of alkaline sodium hydroxide (lye) and vegetable or animal fats. This results in a saponification reaction, in which the lye is removed and at the same time glycerin, which moisturizes the skin, accumulates in the soap.

In addition to glycerin, the right soap contains nourishing fats and oils that moisturize and care for the skin. However, not all bar soaps are made this way, but many industrially produced soaps have glycerin removed, and no nourishing fats are found. These bar soaps often also contain sulfates that clean the skin effectively, but are drying. Therefore, when purchasing bar soap, you should prefer caring soaps made from natural ingredients.

A colony of bacteria?

And does the bar of soap harbor bacteria? Bar soap usually has a pH value of 9-10, which means that the soap is slightly alkaline. An alkaline environment is not favorable for bacteria, viruses and mold, but they thrive in a more neutral 6-8 pH environment. Although bar soap prevents bacteria from growing due to its pH value, soap stored in a wet soap cup can be a suitable growth environment for bacteria.

The most important thing is the correct storage of bar soap, so that the soap remains completely hygienic. Bar soap should be stored on a surface where water can drain away. Perfect bases for a bar of soap are e.g. loofah sponge tray , grate holder and soap bowl with holes.

Tip: After you have used the bar of soap, rinse the bar under running water so that no foam remains on the bar and no dirt accumulates. However, dirt does not make the bar dirty, but bar soap is completely hygienic, especially at home. It is also beneficial to dry the piece between washes.

Why bar soap?

Now we have found out that real bar soap does not dry out the hands and it is not a bacterial colony either, but is really a hygienic and skin-care soap. But why choose bar soap instead of liquid soap?

Well, because there is a bar of soap…

♻️  Zero Waste - the products are usually packed in plastic-free, recyclable and as small as possible packaging

? Natural - bar soaps have a wide selection of soaps made from nature's own ingredients, which do not contain toxins or other useless ingredients. (For this reason, it is also safe to rinse in lake water.)

? Waterless – can be stored for a long time without preservatives

? Lasting - without water, bar soap lathers well and lasts significantly longer than liquid soaps

✈️ Handy for travel – takes up little space and does not fit in liquids, so you can take it with you on the plane

Do you agree that bar soap is really worth trying?
